Job description
We are supporting the reopening of a much-loved country pub in North Wales, set to relaunch in 2026 following a full and sympathetic restoration.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Sous Chef (Deputy Head Chef level) to join a kitchen from the very beginning and help shape its identity, menu, and culture. The focus is on well-executed, fresh, seasonal food rather than fine dining, with quality, consistency, and creativity at the heart of everything.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef and General Manager, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen team and delivering a menu that reflects the seasons, the local area, and customer expectations.
The food offering blends well-loved classics with more interesting, globally inspired dishes, and you will be encouraged to contribute ideas, develop dishes, and bring your own creativity to the menu.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining high standards, and cooking food they are genuinely proud of.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Act as second-in-command within the kitchen team
- Lead, train, and develop the kitchen brigade
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Contribute to menu development and seasonal changes
- Ensure effective stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards
- Support smooth service during busy, high-volume periods
About You
- An experienced Senior Sous Chef or Deputy Head Chef
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a similar fresh food kitchen
- Creative, passionate, and enthusiastic about cooking
- Strong leadership skills with a positive, team-focused approach
- Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and local suppliers
- Reliable, organised, and calm under pressure
This role is ideal for a Senior Sous Chef looking for a senior position with increased responsibility, creative input, and progression.
The Company
This role sits within a well-established, family-run hospitality group operating multiple sites across North and Mid Wales. The business takes a long-term approach, values its teams, and places strong emphasis on quality, sustainability, and community-focused pubs.
