Kitchen Manager – Haywards Heath

Up to £38,000 per year

 

We're supporting a well-established 3 star hotel who are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to lead its busy kitchen team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong culinary expertise, proven leadership ability, and a passion for delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced environment.

 

About the Role

 

As Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service, consistent food quality, and full compliance with food safety standards. You will play a key role in developing the team, enhancing the menu offering, and driving overall kitchen performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Lead, train, and support the kitchen team, promoting a positive and high-performing environment.
  • Oversee preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain consistently high standards.
  • Maintain accurate stock control, including ordering, stock rotation, and waste reduction.
  • Uphold rigorous food safety procedures, including HACCP and general compliance.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service and excellent guest experiences.
  • Support menu development, budgeting, cost control, and kitchen profitability.
  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of kitchen staff.
  • Track key performance indicators and introduce improvements where needed.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or similar leadership role within hospitality.
  • Strong culinary background with solid knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and industry trends.
  • Experience in high-volume, quick-service, or casual dining environments is highly advantageous.
  • Confident, supportive leader with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety legislation, and kitchen compliance.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience in budgeting, stock management, and cost control.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional food and creating a memorable guest experience.
