Job description

We are recruiting an experienced Head Chef to lead the culinary operation at a prestigious country house hotel and spa set within landscaped grounds near Shrewsbury.

 

This is a senior leadership role within a well-established hotel known for its refined dining, luxury leisure offering, and high-end weddings and events business. The successful candidate will take full ownership of food delivery across the main restaurant, private dining, weddings, and large-scale banqueting.

 

A full kitchen brigade is already in place, making this an ideal opportunity for a Head Chef who enjoys leading, refining standards, and elevating an already strong operation rather than building from scratch.

 

The Role

 

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall direction, performance, and consistency of the kitchen. You will work closely with senior hotel management and the events team to ensure a seamless food offering across all areas of the business.

 

This role requires a confident leader with experience delivering Rosette-level dining, alongside the organisation and structure needed for high-volume weddings, banquets, and events.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and manage a full kitchen brigade across restaurant, events, and banqueting
  • Maintain Rosette-standard food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Oversee delivery of fine dining, wedding breakfasts, and large-scale banquets
  • Develop seasonal menus that balance creativity with commercial performance
  • Ensure smooth execution of weddings and events from planning through to service
  • Manage stock control, ordering, food costs, and GP
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety
  • Train, mentor, and develop senior kitchen team members

 

About You

 

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef at Rosette standard
  • Strong background in weddings, banqueting, and large-scale events catering
  • Experience working within luxury hotels or country house venues
  • Confident leading a large, structured kitchen brigade
  • Commercially aware with strong organisational skills
  • Passionate about fine dining, presentation, and guest experience

 

This role would suit a Head Chef looking to operate at a high standard within a luxury hotel setting, or a Senior Sous Chef ready to step into a flagship leadership role with significant responsibility and visibility.
