We are searching for an enthusiastic,experienced Sous Chef to join this busy gastro pub kitchen in a great location near Wrexham.

In this role, you'll support the Head Chef in the daily operations, lead the team in their absence on days off or holidays, manage inventory, and ensure every dish meets the high standards required.

The role requires someone with strong leadership skills, a love for crafting great food, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

As a key member of the kitchen senior team, you will assist the Head Chef in managing the supervising of junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained.

Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow during service periods.
  • Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to specifications and presented attractively.
  • Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage procedures.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and minimise waste.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations.
  • Support during busy service times by preparing dishes as needed and serving customers when required.

Skills

  • Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Extensive food production and culinary expertise, with a strong focus on quality and presentation.
  • Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example.
  • Proficient in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations applicable to hospitality settings.
  • Previous restaurant experience demonstrating adaptability under pressure.
  • Strong leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills.
